Interactive Installation Diaspora
Video art installation, themed “Diaspora” which in broad modern terms means “modern ethnic minority groups of migrant origins residing and acting in host countries but maintaining strong links with their countries of origin – their homelands,” academic definition by Sheffer.
This video depicts Ameet’s personal journey and experiences. She experienced migration and movement first hand. She explained that her role in this journey has sometimes been of a silent observer and sometimes of a participant. She observes that life takes us on crossroads and sometimes we choose a path in which it is easy to blend in and fit in with the majority. However, she contemplates that shying away from who we are and reinventing oneself to please others does not result in lasting happiness. Once the wave of majority changes, we will find ourselves at cross roads again, defending our embraced identities, embracing new identities and ironically knowing our real identity but fighting to keep it hidden, she questions this behavior. “Why? Are we lying to ourselves and depriving our next generation from knowing who they are by choosing a path that says "Crowd Pleasers."
She ends this video by spreading the message that staying connected to our cultural background will result in greater fulfillment and healthier society thus, striking a balance and harmony. By embracing who we are and moving forward on a clear path will not leave us lost at crossroads time and again.

Air Tunes
(hundreds of hand made crochet and paper pinwheels)
Artists' statement: “This installation [at the Eco Design Fair] asks the public to engage in completing the piece, and also to carry a part of it home as a reminder ot the change in choices we need to make today for a better tomorrow.”
Air awakens us to its presence by its changing movement, which we perceive on our bodies and all around. Light, colorful things especially that change in response to the air put us in mind of changes in the air itself.
Air Tunes is a mixed media installation combining colorful fabric wind chimes and a garden of pinwheels made by students at SAS, Pudong Middle School. Visitors are invited to remove a pinwheel from the garden and replace it with a puff of wildflower seed, that may be grow to mark the beginning of a change that is taking place.
